I hate this show now

I used to be excited to watch now I could care less about this show now.

Well apparently you care enough about the show to waste time posting how much you don't care about it on the shows message board. LOL

I don't completely hate the show, but the excitement for it has worn off. I was addicted and couldn't get enough in the first season, but after that, the hype and anticipation really died down. By the end of the second season, I found myself really not caring anymore. I'm almost at the point of thinking of not watching the upcoming season. Every time I think about it, I start dreading it. It's not the worst show in the world, but there is something about it now that makes it a chore to want to watch.

For me, it's watching them feud and then as soon as they get together to battle the new villain, one of them (usually Lucious or Akeem) does something to start major problems all over again. The back stabbing is fine and all because that's how they are, but it happens way too quickly...like within the same scene of them forming a union to go against the bigger problem they are facing. It's like you want to say to the writers "can y'all just get through this one plot line and give the illusion that things are going to change and you're going to take the story in a different direction, at least a few episodes, before you pull it back in to it being a family feud?"

It's brilliant because I imagine this is what it would feel like being in the family, but it's risky because I'm watching for entertainment so, unlike the characters, I can walk away when it becomes too exhausting no matter how much I enjoy the story line and want to see where it goes.

People are fickle, wishy washy, and easily bored. Oh well...

I agree. The first season was great, but it seems they tried to do too much too fast in the 2nd season. And the finale wasn't very good with the quick action to bring in a bunch of hoods from the past. I'll take a peak at the new season, but if it's anything like the last, I'll likely move on.

My date last night was awful. And then he wouldn't even spend the night.

Was just discussing the show at home with family, and wondered if anybody else was feeling as we were. Guess we aren't the only ones who found season 2 lacklustre. It definitely lost something in season 2.

It feels like a full on day time soap now, if I wanted that I would watch DOOL or Y&R.

They need to find their essence and get back to it quick smart. FOX doesn't drag out cancellations, if there is even a hint of a drop in ratings, the show will disappear super fast lol.

I may whine, complain and bi@tch about the writing in S2 but I'm still a sucker for this show. I just love Taraji, Terrance, Trai, Jussie, and all the supporting actors so much.

If anything goes wrong, I'll blame it on the writers and especially Lee Daniels and Danny Strong. They created this show and are the greatest writers. They should pay attention to what the writers are doing and take care of their baby.

I know S2 was a little bit of a let-down but I've seen writers come back from a slump better than ever. I hope this season proves to be much, much better.

I'll be waiting in-front of my TV on 9/21, that's for sure.

Just watched the first ep of season 3, and woooooooooo it looks like they've upped their game!!

I don't let them tell me what to do (looks at dolls) I don't ..let them tell me.. what to do!

reply

Yep. The writers said the focus is moving back to family this season

reply

When did it ever stop focusing on the family? Just seems like we are going to get more of Lucious wanting Cookie but then when she's almost in good graces with her and then screw her over.

My job is to inform, not persuade- Dan Rather

reply

I guess that can be worse. One would think this would have been the perfect time for cookie to try and get as close to luscious as she could behind close doors just to drive Anika crazy. But I guess they have to keep everything perfect to fool the Feds

reply

Nowhere near as good as it was. Cookie is still amazing though.

reply

Really? May I ask why is that? The second season was unwatchable for me, but I feel like (knock on wood) that they are redeeming themselves with this season so far.
