A pet peeve of mines is when period movies are made gearing towards the 90's and does not look like the 90's.
The NWA biopic comes to mind, the women in that film looked like modern day women; I like how the hairstyles of the young women in the flashbacks actually look like the Salt and Pepper/ T-Boz hairstyles.
That was supposed to be the 80's when they met. Andre's character is in his early 30s.
shareAndre can't be in his mid 30's. "Just A Friend" came out in 1989 so those scenes are circa 1989 or 1990. But they have Lucious looking like a wanna be LL Cool J from 1985/86.

I liked that too. I'm only a few years younger than Cookie and Lucious. I know what the late 80's and 90's looked like. They got it spot on.

I was going to say they were trying to recreate the 80s with the asymmetrical hairstyle and the fashion style. Then Biz Markie "just a friend" came out in 1988 I was about 6 years old.

The flashbacks were bringing back some major 80s, early 90's nostalgia! I remember that hairstyle Cookie was wearing back in the day--I was only like three and four in the early 90s, but I remember a lot of the fashions.
I'm slightly confused about the timeline though because '89, '90 doesn't seem early enough regarding Andre's age...I always thought he was born in 1987 or a year before.
