Yes! I said that last season. It was all this hype about her like she was about to blow up his whole spot and all she does is say something smart and stare at the camera before commercial break. The character was more interesting when we thought she was some bipolar loon who offed herself. Leslie Uggams can go back to whatever retirement home she came from.

Her part on the show reminds me of Mother Jefferson -- not some scary figure.
With that said, I still like her part, but I don't see what they are doing with her. I do like that she is holding up camp in Luscious' home.

Lol. Mother Jefferson. That thought did cross my mind. We wrong. Lumping all high yella elderly ladies into the same crate. Honestly though. She is an extra formidable body who can bail her son out the day it finally looks like someone is gonna kill his ass. BOOM. Gunshot then camera pans to show it was crazy Grandma to the rescue.

They should axe her character, she's just there to remind Lucious in every scene that everyone but the dog visited her in the mental asylum.

What's the point of Lucious mother ??

She's still yet to tell us what she is hiding about Lucious. She needs to spill the beans about all of Lucious's lies. I hope the writers haven't forgotten about that.

All those stories Lucious told about his mother abusing him, drowning him in the tub e.t.c. were they true? I hope we get to find out all about that eventually.

Oh hell yeah! I do believe Lucious mom gonna get at Anika ass I can just feel it coming. Seems like the old lady and Lucious see what a bitch Anika she really is. That old lady is crazy as hell you can best believe something will go down before the 3rd season ends.

She's fairly obviously being used for a future plot point. Based on Lucious's own words, it's probably going to be to kill Anika. ;)

Leslie Uggams so far is being terribly underused...this is the fault of the writing. They are using Leah Walker as little else than a prop at this point, a 'crazy lady' who pops out of the background and says something bizarro and goes back to wandering around the mansion aimlessly. It's a disappointment to me because I got SUPER excited when Uggams joined the cast! I thought it was gonna be a real game-changer when it came to depth and complexity of the plot, Lucious's backstory.

The only thing I can hope is that the writing team has some amazing future storylines planned for Uggams, so she can really let her talent shine on the show.

Season 2 was close to falling off the rails, so any new introduction shouldn't have given you hope based on its trajectory in the writing. The show's much better this season, in my opinion. It's not appointment television like it was in season 1, but there's no way I'd stop watching this show.

I liked the second half of season 2. I thought the writing, acting, plots, improved pretty significantly and Leslie Uggams is just such a legend that I thought the show was really heading in the right direction again which is why I was happy about her character being introduced.

But like I said, the writing has been absent with Leah Walker's plotline since she was introduced...like she came on the show with a 'bang' and quickly fizzled out regarding her development. I hope the writers step it up because Ms. Uggams deserves better!

You're preaching to the choir, but it might have been network intervention that caused the storyline to not go where they originally intended. We'll never know, but we do know this show completely wasted Malik Yoba in season 1, so it's in their past already to under-utilize a great or really good actor.

I don't even know, at first when she came on to the scene I thought she was going to be revealing secrets left and right or killing someone. Yet she is another character that is fading into the background behind the Lyon family.

I agree. I loved the scene where she made the cakes and was forcing Luscious to eat them. I was like finally! Someone crazier than he is! I was hoping she'd go for a stake in Empire or something like everyone else does when they are upset with Luscious since he put her in that home and told everyone she was dead for years.

But alas.. now she's just there. Not so much crazy anymore as she is snippy. She's just kicking it at the house. It's a real waste. I would actually rather see a well thought out plot created for her than Jamal's pain pill addiction, anything having to do with SwiftStream or Cookie and Taye Diggs' character trying to merge their different worlds. I'm quite sure that Cookie is going to move on at some point once he pisses her off and his character will be dropped, never to be heard of again.

I have no idea anymore either. I have no idea about a lot of characters that seem to just show up while adding little to the show though. Something a lot of us feared would eventually happen after the 1st season, and now has IMO. I don't think the show has much of a direction anymore. Its becoming the wasteland for semi-employed black actors and musicians I feared it would be. Hopefully things will start to get back on track.

The majority of the audience doesn't agree with you, as the ratings are still super high, especially in DVR. It's just not appointment television like it was in season 1 anymore. The sort of audience erosion it did have happens to every single show that believes its hype. I think it's gotten back to a lot of the things that worked in season 1, but there are still a lot of random season 2 storylines peeking back in.

The big dangling question in this season is who's the snitch? Someone had to let the FBI guy in to put the bear where he did. I'll give you one guess who that might be...Juanita. Just kidding...or am I? Seriously, Lucious's mom has to be the snitch, getting back at him for what he did to her.
