Am I the only one who thinks Grace Gealey tries is way too uppity.

Like she tries way too hard to have too much dignity. It's a little fake and pretentious.

I think she's supposed to be like this.

No, the actress when she's doing interviews.

Naw, absolutely not. Grace seems like a genuinely sweet and sophisticated woman. I follow her on Twitter and she's responded a couple of times, also I catch up with her social media and some of her interviews. She's a class act all the way! Eloquent and graceful. Puts me in mind of a young Diahann Carroll. If that's considered "uppity", then I don't want to know what's considered the opposite.

Naw, I've seen a few of her interviews and thought she came across as pretty cool actually. Thought she had a great sense-of-humor too when I saw her. I mean it looks like she's educated from what I remember. Doesn't offend me, although a lot of people think black folks aren't allowed to be.

She IS uppity. That's the whole point of her character. Believe it or not, there are many black women who act like this. You saw a lot of them at the Opera too. We're not ALL hoodrats like Cookie! LOL.

Actors are useless without the power of a good writer's imagination

I meant, the actress in interviews, not the character. And I think she's way too unity and snobby in interviews.

Too unity???

I think its bad to act uppity and hoodrat. I never grew up in the hood myself, I know nothing of that life but im nowhere near uppity and think my *beep* don't stink and I know people who were born and raised in the hood but you wouldnt know because of how they carry themselves and articulate their words. You do not have to be how you were brought up rather it was the suburbs or the projects.

Well she is pretty and possibly honed her uppity skills in High School where having such an aire about her was the difference between being the Prom Queen or classmates seeing as a 2nd or 3rd best shrinking violet. I like it.

I find her Empire character repulsively up her own Hakeem ploughed ass, however it's no surprise that she's the same in real life.

Although I think the character is intentionally like that, i do also think they hired her for the role because that type of attitude comes naturally to her.

I saw her on Good Day LA, and was expecting to see someone down to earth come through, but it was just like watching the character she plays.

But that said... i don't judge her. People act like how they were raised. She's probably not intentionally trying to act snobbish.... She's just expressing a demeanor which has been part of her lifestyle since Day 1. She's probably not even aware of it. As long as she's not overtly mean (such as spitting on a homeless person) you should just accept who she is, as she is.
