Either Rhonda's not dead or Andre's medicine is working well

He said that or Maybe it was Rhonda's ghost said that she was the only one who could keep Andre's medication straight on a daily schedule. Jamal said he could help him, but anyway, he hasn't broken down (no one else in the family has either), but especially not him with his illness and not taking his med the correct way without Rhonda. So why is he totally ok and sleeping and/or dating Vanessa. They haven't had her funeral or anything...I'm not understanding this.

Because Andre only goes crazy when the story calls for it.

Andres illness is triggered by stress and most of the stress comes from trying to get his father's approval. He and dad are on good terms so he can deal right now. I have a family member that is mentally ill and there are things that can trigger episodes regardless of medication.
