Now onto his current storyline as I said I'm loving it. This exploration of drug addiction is not a bad direction to take for Jamal's character. That's the terrifying thing about drug addiction is that it can strike good people who've never done drugs before and it can ruin and end lives so quickly. Very few people who end up addicted to drugs started out as the type of people you would imagine would become addicted, it can strike anyone.
Exactly, and the fact that the writers are delving into major issues affecting people is what has really impressed me about this season so far. Enough with Jamal and his one love Michael who betrayed him over and over and enough of Jamal singing too much. Now they are delving into a very concrete storyline with him. It's refreshing, a progressive storyline for him from last season and very deep. This is a subject matter that is important to touch on. I love it.
I guess it's just about what you enjoy more on the show. Personally I'm kind of bored by this Andre storyline.
Quite the contrary with me. I am absolutely loving Andre this season and I feel the writers have rejuvenated that character from plain and boring through S1 and S2 to exciting in S3. Andre is killing it this season. I love this BAD Andre.
Andre's relationship with Rhonda was OK to me but as a couple, they didn't have exciting things going on besides her advising him to turn against his brothers to earn the Empire throne and their unique sexual escapades outside of their marriage. His bipolar illness was the main focus in S1 and S2 and that seemed to have stalled his character's progression. The writers needed to re-vamp that character in order for Andre to grow and I think they have done an exceedingly good job.
I was sick and tired of Andre being nice and following the rules, pleading for his father's love and getting rejected all the time. Despite all that, he always seemed to come in last. It is much more exciting IMO to see him become more like a Lyon, which is expected. He was the first born and grew up in the ghettos with his Dad. If anyone of the sons experienced a rough childhood, it was Andre so it is only fitting for him to go down that path than keep being "Mr. Nice guy".
I love his relationship with Nessa and if the writers keep this up, I'm sure this season will be absolutely fantastic!!!!
