last nite's episodes was one of the better ones so far ya think?

the storylines (while a little over the top: Lucious surprise appearance at the dinner party) seemed to flow a little better
and not go "from 0 to 100"
as one poster accurately observed

it all seemed to coalesce nicely in the end scene with Freda getting her flow on at the street party, and Andre looking on lovingly, while Cookie made peace with her crazy family under the gaze of her bf's haughty mother (who herself had family roots in the hustle!)

good episode

I too, concur. One of the best in a long time, probably since season 1. Probably one of my favorites period. Found it refreshing that the drama was more witty and less cartoonishly explosive. Constantly going from 1-100 can become mind numbing over time.

The turn down was good (and dinner scene was funny AH).

Agreed - Also seemed to have a sub-theme of fatherhoid/family, between the flashback to Cookie's dad, the baby being raised by her dad and grand (and uncles), and then Freda mentioning her dad at the end.

Very decent episode and it gets better. I hope the last 2 episodes will be explosive.

IMO, think Empire needs to go back to it's January to May airing. S1 really took off because of minimal interruptions. It would have really worked for S3 if there was less disruption because these last few episodes have been killing it. Far superior to anything we had in S2.
