Meh, as a person who could be called a "light bright" herself (mixed like Anika), I think the color cracks on "Empire" are played out and irritating. Still an Empire fan, but this kind of dialogue is getting a tad tacky. I never understand these dumb lines about Anika's light skin when Lucious is a light-skinned Black person himself.."high yellow" if you will. Now that I think of it, why the heck is Anika being singled out for what she looks like when nearly all the Lyons are light-skinned Black folks similar to her, give a half shade or two? Unrealistic writing.
