Ratings dips are normal. Look how long Bones and House stayed on TV and their ratings went down. There isn't a show that after the first season-2nd season, doesn't "dip."

Tbh, Empire had too many breaks this season and they may have led to dive in ratings. They are still doing well and staying on top on the network. Im sure they will comeback stronger with the ratings in march. Season 3 is a good season so Im not worried.

You're right. There were the baseball breaks and other breaks. It loses momentum. Sometimes you wonder if FOX is trying to kill the show don't you?

There were only two breaks: 3 week break for Debate & Baseball and they were off week of Thanksgiving. The difference this year is We had The Presidential Debate and the world Series went to game 7 which cause an extra week. Last year there the break was only one week.

The Thanksgiving break is normal for most shows, don't know why Empire played the week ofThanksgiving last year but they learned their lesson. lol

So... it wasn't too many breaks, it was the baseball break went an extra two weeks.

I think he's now on a path even though it's demonic and crazy, it's focused and he has the support of Nessa to carry him through. Before he didn’t have the support of Nessa and when Rhonda died, his partner was gone and he was all alone and now he's not anymore. He's coming back bigger and badder and stronger than ever.

Demonic and crazy describes Andre right now. I highly doubt the "being focused" part. The way Andre is acting, it seems to me his illness is not being managed properly. Nessa has a huge task ahead to get Andre to manage his illness well. Andre looks highly unstable right now.

I mean, people take their time to watch shows in general so the break is a time for everybody to brush up on their episodes, maybe re-watch them before we come back on again.

Seriously?? People need 4 months to brush up on their episodes?

We just have to get used to this schedule- this is the same schedule as last year Empire has 18 episodes and it has to run Sep- May. There's no way for the show to do that unless they had the normal 22-24 episodes per season and the show doesn't need more episodes at all!

When the show returns March 22, it will run straight through for the final 9 episodes.

They also can't keep the show off the air for almost a year so only running from Jan- May is not an option.

Oh! c'mon now Lori, we know why these shows are scheduled this way. The sweeps that I hear people talking about has a lot to do with it. It's not just a matter of getting used to, it's just not acting surprised when the ratings dip because people lose track of things and don't remember (or even know) to tune in when the show resumes.

The show starts in late September to compete with the other shows and then breaks for 3 weeks for the baseball games, resumes for 1-2 weeks, then breaks off again for Thanksgiving, comes back for another 1-2 weeks then they break off for another 4-5 months. That is just plain ridiculous.
I'm sure something can be done if the network wants to but they just choose to do it this way for their own reasons

Not for nothing, I'm ready for Empire to DIP permanently and just say its farewell.

Taraji is becoming annoying as is every other character on the show with respect to the new faces like Phylicia Rashad (grorgeous self) and Ol'boy Taye Diggs.

They picked up some steam this season but overall "meh" and fans worldwide are beginning to agree or the glaze of the show is wearing thin.

I'm one that stopped watching regularly. I'm planning to catch up on DVR but everything I'm hearing about the plot and the few clips I've caught don't make me want to tune in live.

I liked Rhonda way more than Anika, so right off the bat hearing a spoiler that she died, I kind of tuned out this season. If I ever hear than Anika is finally getting her just desserts, I may tune in live for that episode. I'm also not interested in Tariq and this long lost brother storyline, nor Lucious's friend/enemy is his name Slade? I forget.

So, over the holiday break, I'll binge watch and FF to catch up but for me, its not must see TV any longer. Writers always start good with a series then it goes into the abyss.
