I thought the same too, but I'm not watching the show. I tried to watch last episode but it just didn't jive with me so I just flipped the channel.
It certainly will not be as popular as Empire. I hope Lee and Danny put more emphasis on the writing of this show because Empire will end up being one of their best TV productions. Less focus on other shows and more on Empire would definitely be something to consider.
IMO S2 was a let-down because they were both off running other projects and neglected Empire in the hands of incompetent people and that's why the writing deteriorated so badly. This season shows a complete turn-around and the writing has greatly improved because I'm sure both Lee and Danny are back on board fully. share
LOL this is a case of Lee Daniels talking to hear himself talk again. He's been talking about a spinoff since S1 of Empire and the executives always have to come back and say there are no plan for that right now. Even Lee said yesterday that they are "talking" about it and that it will happen. (sure Lee)
So moral of the story is: take whatever Lee says in interviews with a grain of salt. No show is coming. Also, the powers that be have always said STAR was not a spinoff of Empire. People don't want to accept that for some reason. lol
Well Star just seems to be meh, because I never see anybody writing about it, including critics.
I hope he doesn't do a damn Prequel. He's got enough flashbacks already.
