Andre and Nessa. So many questions...

I am liking this couple for a few reasons. Among them: the emergence of bad, bad Andre who is so much more interesting than in earlier seasons; the sophisticated street swag and toughness of Nessa; and the couple’s shared experience as ambitious loners/outsiders in their respective “families.”

But, I’m full of questions.

Is Andre playing Nessa? Is Nessa playing Andre. Or maybe it's a combination of both?
Are there genuine feelings in play?
And, what about those pieces of info that get dropped into scenes seemingly as an aside:
Andre met her brother? Hmmm.
Shyne “put his hands” on Nessa in the studio. That’s how “family” treats you? Does Andre know?
Who did kill Nessa’s brother?
And, as Andre said, what about Nessa’s “rights” to the “business” that was co-owned by Shyne and Nessa’s brother? Is Nessa being played by Shyne?
Why is Shyne so possessive of her? Are his feelings more than brotherly?
And when the deal goes down, who's gonna be loyal to whom?

Just a few thoughts....

I think that is beauty and excitment of this couple is that its so many turns the writers can do with this couple like Luscious and Cookie for instance, its so much complexity there that the writers can play off of and choose not to really. It comes with great chemistry. Andre and Nessa have awesome chemistry from the moment they laid eyes on one another, u knew it was going to be intense between them.

Because I do love this couple so much out of every couple that has ever existed on Empire, I want to believe in my mind that they genuinely have feelings for one another which I do believe they do. I mean of course they both want power and they see that they can get that by working together but even with that u can't deny its something real between them that goes beyond power. I think it will be interesting to see how their relationship continue to develop come next season. Im sure most of your questions if not all will be answered.

Oh, and your question about shyne possibly having deeper feelings for her than brotherly. I never got that vibe from him. From the beginning I always felt like nessa was either his daughter or sister, never did I think she was anything more or he treated her like anything more but this is Empire and they are known for many twists.

You know, I do believe there are real feelings there, it’s just that they got together so quickly that as Sierra McClain said on the Aftershow, they really don’t know each other. So, it makes me wonder about other things at play in the relationship. And, like you say, we all know how Empire loves a good twist. I mean, Nessa and Andre were a twist. But hey, the ultimate twist might be that when it comes to this couple and their feelings for each other, there really isn’t a twist.

Also, Attica Locke, a writer/producer on the show said, that one of the couple’s issues in the second half of the season will be how does Nessa’s relationship with Andre “mess with” her relationship with Shyne. And, that kinda mirrors Cookie’s youthful dilemma, about being torn between loyalty to and love of family versus romantic love & ambition.

And, I kinda agree with you about Shyne and his feelings. It’s just that he’s been sooooo possessive. In early shows, Shyne is like Nessa sit down, get in there and sing that hook - and when she doesn’t he grabs her by the neck. He tells studio guys not to look at her. He has his boys physically drag her out of the apartment after her tryst with Andre which Nessa had to sneak away for, and then, at the brother’s memorial party, Shyne pumps her full of stuff like: this is where you belong, Andre isn’t coming. He isn’t going to choose you. But he did.

I just thought shyne was being overprotective brother or father in the beginning, never did I pickup anymore but I have noticed that he treats her differently now. He doesnt boss her around anymore like he did in the beginning and Im sure that has to do with her involvement with andre. I think if anything shyne is jealous of her relationship with andre and will try to do whatever to end that. Shyne still thinks nessa is his little sister that needs him but she is not that person anymore. She is mature young woman who has found connection with another man other than shyne and that bothers him.
