This show sucks now

You can tell simply from its major lack of awards recognition. It lost so much steam after an amazing first season. Made me sad, I was so looking forward to this shows potential.

I quit midway through the first half of S2, so perhaps it gets better. But it seems like all the 3 dimensional portrayals of the characters in the first season-- how although Cookie had this outgoing sassy personality she was lonely and fears her kids don't love her. And lucious, who isn't exactly a "good" person, deals with the thought of death with a fresh new mind.

But then in S2 they all became charactures of themselves. Cookie started sassily for no reason and non-stop, Lucious was no longer sympathetic and his character became downright awful. The show was too occupied with getting guest stars and style it forgot about substance.

S3 looks the same unfortunately. I saw the

Anika/Rhonda exchange and it certainly didn't make me believe Empire was back to what it was.

I agree about season 2 but really season 3 is good, u should give it a chance. I feel like season 3 is getting back that season 1 vibe.

How can you write "This show suck now", but then write "I quit midway through the first half of S2"? You don't know what the show is doing NOW because you're not watching it. People are alway commenting on something they have no idea about lol. That's funny.

The writing in S1 was fantastic because it dealt with so many issues that touched a lot of people; homophobia, ALS, interracial marriage, bi-polar disorder, revenge, motherly love, etc. That really held people's attention. It was great writing no doubt.

S2 veered off course when they decided to focus on Hakeem and his nonsensical girl group, a failing company he tried to create with his mother, and issues of really no relevance at all. It was Rhonda's fall on the stairs that sparked some interest in the show again. All the endearing issues in S1 were abandoned in S2 even Cookie's character was poorly written.

This season has seen a turn in events and we are gradually going back to dealing with mature, important and sensitive issues again. I'm loving the show now. You should give it a chance. I know Rhonda's death was a turn-off for a lot of people but other shows are also killing off great characters too.

I'm
Sorry but you are making a real idiot of yourself by saying the show sucks NOW and then saying that you're not even watching it now because you stopped in season 2. Fact you have no idea what the show is like NOW because you are not watching it, so don't talk about stuff you have no knowledge of as it makes you look like a moron. You could say the show sucked in season 2 and as you watched it that would be a valid opinion. However saying that a season you haven't even watched sucks is not only nonsensical but it is beyond idiotic.

I'm just pointing that out. So that in future maybe you will keep yourself from mouthing off in a stupid way that makes you look like a fool.

I was persevering with this because I thought it had to get better. This is the worst written, inconsistent, cheesy, waste of a production budget that I've seen in years. Taraji Henson is mildly amusing as Cookie, but the character's often ridiculous. There is zero sensitivity, and a lot of the plot makes no sense. I guess it's trendy to have a bipolar character now, but its depiction of mental illness is like one of those 1960s movies where someone drops acid and has a bad trip. Oh well, thanks to this post I won't waste another second on this lurid mess. Thanks guys
