Who would you cast as Cookie's lover next season (to replace Angelo)?

I'm not feeling Taye Diggs. He definitely does not have the chemistry Taraji and Terrence share. (Damn, if they weren't actors, you'd swear Taraji and Terrence were really a divorced couple!)

If Lee Daniels hired you as his new casting director, which actor(s) would you IMMEDIATELY consider and who would you eventually hire to be Cookie's new man next season?

My list (in no particular order):

1) Denzel Washington (though he'd probably wouldn't do it). I like him because he's mature, intelligent, and strong enough to handle Cookie's shenanigans.

2) Idris Elba (Oooh, I'd scream if he could fit Empire into his already busy schedule.)

3) Jesse L. Martin (The Flash, Law and Order. Still sooooooo gorgeous!)

4) LL Cool J (Love those muscles and lips, lol.)

5) Andre 3000 (Outkast)

6) Lenny Kravitz (I know he's now on "Star," but why not a crossover role? He is still soooo sexxxay!)

7) Giancarlo Esposito (loved his quiet intensity on "Breaking Bad." And he's half Italian, mama mia!)

8) Common

9) Shemar Moore

10) Benjamin Bratt (I know he's also on "Star," but why not a crossover role? He is still soooo sexxxay!)

11) Jimmy Smits

12) Rick Yune (Korean men are friggin sexxay to me. Have you seen this guy's pillow lips and sexxxay cheekbones? Cookie would love this Kimchi hottie!)

My hire after sampling all this chocolate, caramel? Can you hear the casting couch squeaking, lol?

Idris Elba would be good because I thought they had great chemistry in that movie they did together but I doubt they could ever get him, that man stays busy. I agree taye diggs is not doing it for me but tbh, taraji requested him because they are friends outside the show which is weird because they have no chemistry which makes for a very boring couple. They basically need others in their scenes to make them interesting.

If I were hired, I would graciously give my own two cents that Cookie DOES NOT NEED A NEW MAN EVERY SEASON, with all due respect.

Cookie had a boyfriend in S1, S2 and S3. I get it. This whole idea is to get this drama between Cookie and Lucious going so we can enjoy the ups and downs in trying to get them back together since we all know they are meant for each other.

Well, IMO with all these hook-ups, I think the writers have veered away from what made Cookie the best character ever, in S1. When Cookie got out of prison, she was determined to get back what was hers and be there for her boys. We saw her fight Lucious viciously to get Jamal to the top, keep her family and business together.

For some reason, all of that has just been phased away in S2 and S3 and that has also taken away a lot of the Cookie buzz and admiration.

If there is a season 4, I think it would be better to lay off the boyfriends. Maybe get Cookie to ascend higher in Empire, bring in and coach more singers, be there for her boys and family. Instead of having fights within the family, they should be fighting an enemy from the outside. I think Cookie does better fighting FOR her family than against her family. There are obviously lots of competitors out there that would want to do anything to bring Empire and it's owners down. Bring the family together and have them unite and fight against the enemy.

lol I wouldn't consider Malcolm an actual boyfriend. That was a case of being hurt by Lucious and also being horny and a fine man was there.( He was really a one night stand)

She tried to have something with Laz and was really hurt by him because he was the first man she let her guard down for since Lucious.

I would consider Angelo her FIRST real boyfriend since Lucious. They have an actual relationship with disagreements and all. She made him worked very hard to gain her trust and for her to even sleep with him. She's met his family and is now about to start working on his campaign. Think about it... this is a woman who has only been with ONE man her entire life until she got out of prison and she's now in her 40's! So of course she's going to explore dating different men, but with Angelo they took things very slow. Taye is on for the rest of the season and possibly Season 4.

Yeah, but that was still a relationship which she enjoyed while it lasted. The sad thing is, Lucious threw her out of the company when he found out because of jealousy. She ended up losing out because of it. It would have been nice to see her achieve something good because of the relationship.

She was hurt by Laz but it was a bad relationship which even her own son Hakeem could see from the beginning. All the time she spent wasting with Laz would have been better spent achieving something great like fighting Lucious to get back her own share of Empire. The company she started with Hakeem went nowhere.

I am all for Cookie getting her groove back TBH but you seem to be missing the point I am trying to make.
In S1, Cookie created a lot of buzz because of her acting and the writing for her character. It was all about what SHE STOOD FOR and nothing to do with any boyfriends she had. People loved Cookie because she got out of prison, fighting for what was hers, and trying to make things right with her boys. Boy! Cookie had real fire in her and it was the right kind of fire which resonated with a lot of people.

It doesn't matter to me what the writers do with her character in terms of who she dates as long as they stay true to who Cookie truly is and stands for. She has lost a lot of the spark she had in S1 because the writers are focusing on other aspects that are not resonating well with her audience. Just sayin.

TBH, I would rather see her spending time with Andre now with all the issues he has, helping Jamal through this drug addiction madness and working hard at Empire to get more business and a higher position. It's OK to have the boy-friends on the side, but I honestly don't think they should be the main focus because we already have Lucious. The attention on feisty Cookie is being lost in all this.

I agree. In my opinion Taye Diggs was not needed this season.

@ac: Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Taye is a decent actor and seems like a nice guy off screen. But he is not a good fit on this show. And the character he is playing.

Thank you Sunn123. That is exactly what I would do because honestly, they have the chemistry together and they look good together. This Angelo guy has played his part and it's time Lucious and Cookie got back together. Cookie having a new boyfriend every season is not good for her and it's taking all the focus out of more interesting storylines for her.

Since S2, the writing for Cookie has floundered which has made her lose her shine. They need to get Cookie back with Lucious and focus the writing more on what she stands for and her ability to be a very good, strong and supportive mother to all her sons. That will sell.

My vote is Tyrese. Which reminds me, what happened to him being in Season three? Wasn't he rumored to be a character at the beginning of season 3.

I would actually put Cookie and Lucious back together.

Being a diehard Cookie and Lusicious fan, I would have said put her back with Luscious also. But seeing as how he's done contaminated himself by sleeping with Boo Boo the fool again, I think Cookie needs someone else because Lusicous has proven that he is not the man for her. So much for him fighting for her.
