Sign the petitions as well.

Also, if you can, share these links with people outside this board.

In as much as I used to love the IMDB boards, what I have witnessed lately on the "Hidden Figures" message board and on this one occasionally especially when this show premiered, I am not encouraged at all to sign the petition. The IMDB boards has become IMO, a place for racists to spew their hate messages especially on black movie/show message boards.

I am very happy that this decision was taken because I believe we are now in the era of hate and nothing positive will come out of these discussions anymore.

Sorry, but I believe it's right to end the IMDB discussion boards. Hate is now the order of the day and I don't think the owner of IMDB will be able to keep the trolls and the hate out.

Volunteer moderators could wipe out these bigots in a heartbeat.

If a good thing breaks, you fix it. And this place, as you well know, has the potential to be great.

If that was true IMDb would've done it already.

Hate-watching says more about the viewer than it does about the show.

Volunteer moderators are, initially, extra work. You have to train them, you have to monitor them and make sure they're not abusing their power. So, of course, the powers that be will look at the initial outlay and go "we don't want to do that." But once you have a set of proven volunteers in the place, volunteers can monitor other volunteers, so it effective becomes self managing.

They haven't done already because they don't understand how forums work, because, these boards have never really been traditional forums. There were set up almost as an afterthought a very long time ago, and were never fixed. They can fix them.

reply

True but clearly they don't want to.

Look, they are the owners of the site and they can do with it whatever they want.

Time to move on.

Hate-watching says more about the viewer than it does about the show.

Agreed.

Actors are useless without the power of a good writer's imagination
