Sam Halton or Sam Dresden and other continuity thoughts

So I've been re-watching both seasons and noticed that Sam was originally Sam Halton (when Gretchen goes to talk to the gay reporter about him) but in later episodes he is Sam Dresden. Is this just a goof? I've noticed a few continuity errors, which annoy me a great deal more than they probably should. Such as Lindsay's house exterior totally changing (did she move after Paul and it was just never mentioned?) and Jimmy telling Gretchen Nina showed him her medal after they kissed, when it happened well before the kiss.

I know like one other person who watches this show (sacrilege, I know!) so I figured here might be a good place to discuss my annoying overthinking of continuity blips. I don't know why I pay so much attention to stuff like this, but alas, here I am.
