I don't think the movie is worth watching if you didn't watch Mr. Rogers as a kid. The movie did not do well outside of the United States.

I'm in Australia and loved it. Though I didn't grow up knowing of Mr Rogers directly (it was not aired in Australia), I was aware of his existence due to the impact that he had on American society and references to him I had seen over the years, beginning with Eddie Murphy's SNL version of his ghetto neighborhood.

OK I guess I retract my statement then, and thanks for your reply! Those of us who grew up watching the show certainly got more out of the movie, but I guess there's no reason the movie on it's own can't still be entertaining.

I think the theme of a loving person fixing a broken person transcends the character of Mr Rogers himself, and is the core of this movie.
