one of the best prison films ive seen in a while

good story. good performances by most of the cast. i liked that we see the charecters life before, during prison.
i also liked that we got glimpse into some other main characters lives (or heads)
it is also a feel good film for a prison movie. 6/10 as far as a prison film goes.

Agree with everything except the 6 out of 10 for a prison movie. As a prison movie it would be lucky to get half that score. Not enough violence, no rape scenes and seriously - build up to a white v lebanese fight then give us a game of footy?! Yes I know there was a stabbing, but overall there wasn't enough realism for a maximum security prison. Hardened crims like Cove don't just "take a liking" to new young inmates (not for anything other than the obvious anyway), nor would someone with Will's nature be crying himself to sleep one night then suddenly giving lip to the prison hard man. And what was with giving Brute a hug then baptising him?! That simply would not happen in a prison like that. I get it was a true story, but I refuse to believe elements like that.

Hard to believe, but there's a lot of camaraderie and structure to prison and many like that. Very little responsibility that they have on the outside. Many will plan their crimes around the seasons. About late summer do something like shoplift or pubic intoxication and get arrested on purpose. They get sent back to winter over in a warm, dry cell until spring. I know, it seems crazy, but I've known guys that have done this. My sister-in-laws boyfriend had it down. This last time he drove around until he saw a cop car down the street, parked and then started screaming and pushing her around until someone called the cops. He kind of screwed up his brilliant plan though, lol. He tripped on the curb when they were arresting him and grabbed the cops shirt to keep from falling. Assault on a police officer while having priors. Boom - 5 years.

This movie was pretty realistic, which means it didn't portray prison movies very well.

You still actually get --5 years-- for assault police?

yeah, 5 years with 3 months minimum, right?

I beg to differ.

It's a 4/10 in my regard. Very stupid third-act courtroom tension, as I explained earlier on the board.
