Parallels between Annalise's house fire and her mother's - Theory

One thing that struck me was the similarity between Annalise in her house and her mother.

This is the first time we see Annalise planting flowers outside her house. Remember her mother discussing how she planted flowers outside of her house.

Maybe Annalise set the fire in order to cover up something just like her Mother did.

This seems likely, but it'd just be so repetitive to fake a crime scene two years in a row

reply

I'm thinking that too. Similar to her fake reaction to Sam's death, her tears for this might be fake as well covering something up...

Really? I thought her reaction to finding Sam was genuine. For the 2 seconds her grief lasted, anyway....

reply

It was a genuine reaction because she found out Sam was lying in a pool of blood ALONE. There's no need for her to pretend anything at that moment.

Didn't her mother also set Annalese's rapist on fire, burning down the house as well? Am I remembering that right?

reply

Yes. Annalise's mother found out her brother molested/raped her daughter and then set him on fire when he fell asleep with a lit cigarette in his mouth.

reply

No, her mother didn't set her Ana's uncle on fire. Ana's mother knew he had a habit of falling asleep on the couch with a lit cigarette in his mouth. On the night of the fire, she left the house with Ana and her children and the uncle was passed out drunk on the couch.

reply

She mentioned a long match that she would use to heat/turn on the oven and "flammable hooch". I took that to mean when the uncle fell asleep, she went outside and used the match to start the fire that way.
