Silly question, but it annoys me

Ok, so there's a couple things I don't get: how do characters like Michaela and Ash manage to live? Up until Michaela mentioned her family as being "poor white trash", further proven by showing us her mother a few episodes back, I assumed Michaela came from money and a screwed up family. Considering the car she drives and her obviously expensive wardrobe, I don't see where she gets the money for that. I mean, she can't work as she only interns for Annalise and barely go to class.

They seem to also have forgotten that Ash has been cut off financially from his family, but he seems to be doing fine now?

Wes was the only one who actually fit the part of not coming from money. Laurel does come from money and that has been mentioned, and Connor seem to come from a upper middle class family as well. Still think the young cast's background is very underdeveloped still... hope they will dig deeper into that
