Why wasn't Ben named after a President, like the other kids?

Carter, Taylor, Grant, and possibly some other kids, are named after US Presidents.

So, why wasn't Ben named after a President?

Ben Franklin close enough surly
Firesign Theatre joked: "Benjamin Franklin, the only President of the United States, who was never President of the United States."

The other kids' first names are former Presidents' surnames.

And quit calling me Shirley!

The other kids were named by their parents, not Lori.

I thought they were all named by the producers. lol

Taylor, Grant and Carter were named Taylor, Grant and Lyndon by their official authorized custodial parents. She was renamed Carter by Lori. In episode 1.1 Elizabeth agrees to call her Carter, and, in subsequent episodes, no one ever stumbles, and calls her Lyndon. (You'd think her teachers would stumble, as, on the school rolls, she would still be Lyndon Wilson...)

I guess I have to wind something back. I said the kids were named for President's surnames. But Lyndon wasn't a surname. It was Johnson's given name.

We also had a president named Benjamin Harrison.
