Too much teen soap opera

I just finished watching the 24 episodes of this show in a couple of weeks and I must say I really enjoyed the first season. It was well written and somewhat believable but I quickly grew tired of the soap opera angle. Of everyone having secrets and then Carter saying "you have to tell the truth to make everything okay" around 5 times an episode.

By season 2 it felt like a different show with all the soap opera elements and I found that hard to get into. I know teen romance is a complicated thing but it is no where near as complicated or as over dramatic as this show likes to portray.

I also find all the misunderstandings and then the episode later where the two with the misunderstanding have some deep and meaningful conversation and then everything is better again to be rather irritating.

Does anyone else agree or is just me?

I enjoyed the first season as well. They switched showrunners after the first season, and I felt like the show went downhill after that. Way too much ridiculous drama!

Agreed. Teen soap opera. Kids get away with too much and parents allow it to happen.

So...then it kinda like in real life then.

I have EXORCISED the demon

Not like this.

Maybe. But I am not a teenager.

When I was a teenager, it wasn't exaggerated as it in the show but they still did pretty much the same thing. Excluding throwing underground parties, working in bars, and getting emancipated all willy-nilly. We all partied but not like that, i guess. When I was 16, my then boyfriend was 18 not in their 20s. The oldest I've ever gone was a 9 year difference 2 years ago when i was 26.

I'm also pretty sure that no child got away with speaking to a cop that way and the cop just accepting it and moving on.

I'm not going to fess up my adolescent times. ;9)

But I hope this show is an exaggeration of real life.
