He is the reason I choose not to tune in to this show. All he ever does is shout. He looks like he is going to pop a vein. I guess he is type cast as a greasy, smoking d bag. Totally turns me off. On a lighter note. James Jagger looks fantastic.

The season finale of Vinyl was Cannavale at his best. He was also great on Nurse Jackie and a little seen movie with Paul Giamatti, Win Win and small role in Chef with Jon Favreau. He has a lot of acting credits but I guess more I haven't seen.
I did like him in The Station Agent with Peter Dinklage. He just played a regular guy. I guess I can handle him in small doses. But, I must confess I do not know what beautiful Rose Byrne sees in him. I caught him on a couple late night shows, and his personality isn't all that great. Kind of smug.

Bobby Cannavale is a good actor, but he might have been miscast in this role.
I find him a bit old looking to be portraying Richie. In the scenes where he met his future wife Devon at The Dom club....he already appeared to be middle aged. A different hairstyle didn't make him appear any younger. Warhol's crowd were in their 20s-early 30s during the mid 1960s, Richie looked like he was already 40-45!
During the year depicted, 1973, he looks to be in his late 40s-early 50s.
I guess the VINYL casting person forgot that the storyline went back in time and that Richie would have to appear younger in some scenes. The Dom scenes would have been set around 1967-68. It's only a few years to 1973, but someone who smokes so heavily and had a drug problem, can age a lot in a few years.
BC was very good on the NBC cop/EMT/firehouse series 'Night Watch". That's the first time I saw him on screen.
I do agree....he is constantly cast in the same type of loud, screaming, in-your-face roles....he's always playing the same types of characters.
He needs to be a little more subtle, then again, BC would not be the first performer to constantly play the same character over and over again. I can think of many famous performers who basically play the same character in most of their films and many of these people have Oscars.
I am from NJ. Jersey is a beautiful state, it gets a very undeserved bad rap. I am 12 miles from NYC and 1 1/2 hours from the beaches. Lots of lakes and parks...A LOT of rich, influential people live here. Yeah, the taxes are ridiculous. But, I really wouldn't want to live anywhere else. But, to be fair BC is from Union City, which is not very nice (trying to be kind here). Where are you from?
