wtf, HBO

Seriously? What is up with you people? You cancel everything decent like Vinyl, Boardwalk Empire, Tremé, and bring us dreck like Ballers and Westworld?

I don't get it.

I def. find there recent streak of cancellations odd, and troubling for the network as a whole. They won't be taking home "the most Emmy awards" this year. I don't keep track of that stuff but I don't think they did last year...after many, many years of having that to brag to us about.

I'm scared to get too invested in any new shows out of a fear it'll get axed and I just wasted my time watching a show for nothing...where o where has my HBO gone..

reply

HBO apparently hired a new programming director and they're letting this person do the series lineup.

I had heard on here someone mentioning a new executive, or executives plural at HBO. Figures. Sounds like a bean counter executive...sure he takes home a nice salary.

In all seriousness HBO is losing its grip...Silicon Valley is off...I like John Oliver's show (which is off for a month) and I guess I'll watch Ballers...but not much on the horizon.

Nooooooo, my heart is broken. I LOVED vinyl! And i just read about its cancellation on another board. People are already praising Showtime's attempt at a music related show they call "roadies". If you haven't seen the pilot, it's a giant turd! And compared to VINYL: none of the amazing actors (I'm a little in love with Bobby), no crazy fast paced music industry adventures in sight, terrible writing, and definitely none of the beautiful visual compositions that made this show so special. It was a daring, extremely well put together visual and musical feast. And I still can't believe it's getting cancelled. I loved every second of it.
Like you said: wtf, HBO?

Yeah, I watched "Roadies" last night...meh, so-so...only one episode but horribly clichéd, the characters are kinda lacking, etc...I noticed it seemed most people did not like what they saw according to its message board here.

Don't forget Carnivale and Rome.
