Ray Romano, Take a Bow

That's the tenth episode of the series wrapped up, and one of the best binge sessions I've ever had.

Lots of great threads here on IMDB but feel its only right and fair to give a hat tip to Ray Romano, who plays Zak Yankovich.

In this age of box sets viewing habits, you get performances from the support cast which often trump the headliner. We saw this in Corey Stoll in the first episode of House of Cards, he literally ran away with it. I think Romano does that here in Vinyl, with body language, mannerisms and lines that added so much more than was probably intended - given his billing. During the scenes where they were sitting around the boardroom table, he brought Vinyl to the next level - acting out of his skin.

Grateful to IMDB folks who can put me onto some of his other work. He's the type of actor that you admire so much you want to learn more about his approach to roles and contribution to scripted drama.

Grateful for tip offs and to hear your views about his work.

He stole the show, as they say IMHO. I really enjoyed Ray Romano in this, and the kid from Doogie Howser all grown up. All around a solid supporting cast...except for maybe O. Wilde, IMHO.

I was surprised by him, after having watched him for many years on RAYMOND I couldn't see him doing anything more serious but he was great in this show!

Ray Romano is a stabilizing force in a field of histrionic performances. Often his is the only character in a scene worth watching because everyone else is mugging for the viewer's attention. Nuance rocks!

I never could stand Everybody Hates Raymond. I groaned when I saw his name in the opening credits of the first episode. That said....boy, did he ever surprise me! An incredible dramatic actor. He rose head and shoulders above all the others on this show....and it had a very good cast. I have a new respect for Romano and his talents.

Vinyl is Cannavale's show, but Ray Romano was a real surprise..way better than you'd expect from a sitcom comic. Great casting.

Why? For playing the schlubby, sad sack character he always plays?

No! That's not true at all, Elvis takes 50% of everything I earn!
