Couldn't agree more. Cannavale really killed it in this episode. And yes, that scene with Andrea, what was it, last week?, that was a setup for things to come.
My favorite was the warehouse scene. You can see Richie watching the mafia guy and sensing what's about to happen, and then, BOOM. Really great acting from both Cannavale and Romano. In fact, I'll be severely disappointed if Romano doesn't at least get an Emmy nomination, if not win.
Andrea told Jamie that the band just hired a new guitarist and they're starting to gel and the last thing they need is 'love'. She then said something like this is why they don't hire women to be A&R reps because A&R reps are supposed to offer guidance and direction and it's hard to do with a c*ck in your mouth.
And yet, Richie used his secretary to bed Hannibal.
I hope Jamie has learned her lesson and learns more from Andrea. The guy almost OD'd.
Couldn't agree more!Richie geeeked out in the theatre for Enter the Dragon was brilliant! Then followed up by practicing some of his newly learned martial arts on Zak at the office just hilarious.
Yup, Richie breaking up the fight was FINALLY him at his best. I really like the way he took charge of the moment and got everyone focused. Definitely his finest hour..finally. lol!
"Stick with me, baby, and you'll be fartin' thru silk."
Best scene is when Richie walks into the apartment thinking someone is f'n his wife, only to find out her bf is trying to kill a flying bat in the room.
Richie's inclinations to kill the bf is immediately dropped and his human, primal instinct kicks in once he sees the bat...then he drops whatever he was doing and asks for the racket so he can kil the bat.
Once he nails the bat, he realized her bf is now bloody from an accidental swing, and in remorse and some what bondful way, hands him a towel and inspects the wound.
And in just as fast as his primal instinct of killing was triggered..Richie regained his original purpose for running into the room, and both men who shared a small bond...come to a quiet realization that one was there f'ing his wife, and the other to kill him. They quietly separate back to reality
great scene...I don't think Richie was there to kill him - it was a newspaper not a towel which was a nice touch of dysfunction. My favorite (among so damn many great ones) was Skip at Sam Goody - "What's that Dueling Banjos doing in front of my Donny Osmond display?" "People love that retarded kid!"....I was very young, but quite aware, of the state of music in '73 -- and that nailed it!
Best Scene: Episode 8, Lester demonstrates how to write a song using three cords, E A & B, as the skeleton. That scene by itself would make a great trailer for the series.
Runner-ups: all in Episode 1 - New York Dolls literally bringing down the house - Buck Rogers holding court in Oasis Club and in his home. - Ruth Gordon performing with tambourine
100% agree. EAB is the best scene on the show, hands down. Lester is my favourite character. New York Dolls at the beginning is a close second. Perfect band and perfect song to use as Richie was having his own personality crisis.
Maybe not the best scene, but the coolest scene was the one where Hannabal is introduced. Almost 3 minutes long without a cut. Impressive. But one of the best scenes was the one where Zak realizes that he wasn't the one who lost the money in Vegas.
