The Son

What was the point of making the son so weak and wimpy? Hated him.

reply

He had to be the antithesis to Noah's strong physical and emotional presence so that:

1) The audience would accept Claire's infatuation with Noah and not mistake it for some reverse Oedipal drive to replace her husband with her son.

2) As a weak wimpy kid living with his mother, he was drawn to Noah in more of a father/son relationship than a friendly or even fraternal way.

3) The writers didn't have time to develop any depth to the characters so they are all archetypes who react and respond dramatically and artificially.

I actually think this story should have been in a college setting rather than high school. The guy is so clearly not a high schooler and there is so much wrong with the story.

reply

I completely agree! Most of the high school scenes seemed forced and laughable.

I totally agree with that! He's REALLY 28! Sexy? Yeah,I guess. A trim, fit and tanned young male body can EASILY make ME GAGA! (No,I DON'T mean the lady kind, either!)

agree with some other points.. I think the main cause of this is to drive the plot more.. if her son was say strong and confident, he wouldnt form a friendship with the guy and would be able to easily whoop him once things got sketchy... left no room for hostage taking and sleeping with his dream girl..
