20 year old senior??
So he was a 20 year old senior??
shareRepeating his senior year?
shareIt happens. I was taken out of special ed right before I started my first year of high school because they said they didn't have special ed in high school, so I struggled a lot throughout my high school years. I did 9th grade and then I moved and I did 10th grade 4 times while doing 9th grade classes and going to alternative ed, and then I went on to adult ed for a year until I stopped going. I wasn't getting any of the help I needed to understand and pass the classes at both high schools, alternative ed, and adult ed. They refused to help me. Sometimes I'd get lucky and someone would come along and would actually help me understand an assignment, and when that happened it felt like a miracle and I'd get really excited, but most of my teachers weren't like that. Sitting in classes and trying to do the work without having someone explain it to me made me feel like a foreigner. I hated that I didn't understand any of it. I've learned more since I "dropped out" of high school than I ever did while I was there, so I guess it was for the best. Maybe now if I were to do high school again I'd probably understand it a little better, but I'm not going to waste more years of my life on high school. I missed out on a lot of high school experiences, like prom, because I got held back so many times, but that's alright.

I turned 20 the Summer I graduated High School too. I was born with physical disabilities and was held back in Kindergarten. I took Special Ed classes too.
I'm sure there are cases of other students who have to repeat a year from skipping school etc.
He was ALMOST 20. If his birthday was right before the cutoff date and, as was mentioned, he repeated a grade, then his purported age was right on track.
shareHe might have been a December baby who repeated a grade.the cutoff date is December 2 here so everyone born after has to wait until next school year.

In real life, you may stay in high school until you're 20... Which means being left back twice. Or if you're a special Ed student, you can stay in high school until you're 22.
