It's like some kids got a weekend pass to a lake and shot a movie. All of the dialogue seems to be filler so they can try to get enough footage to hit the 2 hour mark.

It doesn't try to go beyond its means and is certainly a lot better than some high budget horrors I've seen. The writing and acting is great... I don't see how having more cash would have improved it... more like ruined it by having FX that distract from the human drama.
The best horror films are low budget.
