for the ones wondering what's this about

2. Where did the story of ‘Honeymoon’ come from?

We were interested in ideas of identity and how well you can ever really know another person

"this idea that you think that you know someone so well, and then these small moments can kind of push you off track. And the person that you’re with can become completely foreign or alien to you. And so we took that idea and made it extremely literal!"

This movie totally creeped me out, and I watch horror all the time (too much some might say) and I never get scared or creeped out so it felt really nice to get that uneasy feeling and thinking "omg what's gonna happen." Usually hate when movies are slow but here it worked well. And I was hooked from their first night in the cabin and I just felt it was gonna be good.

well, if he wanted to express THAT then he might should not have made the film about someone that gets taken over by facking aliens.

correct me if i am wrong, but didn't she got taken over instead of being someone that faked to be someone else to her spouse?

i mean by that logic she could have just as justifyingly have been fallen into a coma or suffer braindamage after getting hit by lightning, well because .... "hey, that's not the same woman i used to know", right?

hell, even if he made it about a woman that was secretly an alien from the very beginning, that would have made for a better story, but i bet that he would have messed that one up too.

Now her secretly being an alien and her friends the other aliens coming back for would have been a good story especially if the alien part of her started taking over. They could have left out the giant alien sperm.

As a bit of a tangent, regarding the idea of identity and how well you can know a person... the British show Intruders had a fascinating take on that... the idea of previous lives that refuse to die and rise to push the current personality out. Great show that sadly only lasted one season.

Hmm. I guess. My interpretation was that it was a cronenberg-esque interpretation of the horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. Guess I was off.
