Someone please explain what just happened...

I'm lost. Are we not supposed to know what happened, or are there theories? Someone please make this movie make sense.

I thought it was pretty obvious. Bright lights, "sleepwalking", gooey shyt, literal alien creature coming out of her vagina: ALIENS. My guess is that the aliens impregnated the women, and also were able to control their minds - that's why they were writing down key details of their identity so they could somehow regain control. Eventually as the stronghold got more powerful, the alien took over and their real identity was forgotten. Now Bea and Annie were vessels for the aliens to use in order to birth more of their kind. That's pretty much it.
