Had potential but just fell flat SPOILERS
This is one of those indie Netflix movies you watch once in a blue moon, hoping you see something fairly original and creepy, but usually you're left disappointed ... there was one about this young couple who got lost in these backroads in Ireland, which was actually quite good, but this one ultimately didn't make sense, and so it fell flat. OK, young happy honeymoon couple, secluded cottage, spooky dark woods ...
after "the event" in the woods, they did a good job keeping you guessing....what happened to her in the woods? etc.
but the whole idiotic alien thing just ruined it! it could have even been a good alien thing if the aliens weren't so stupid, why mess with these women and then let them run around for a while driving their partners crazy and then killing them senselessly, before joining them back at the spaceship?
why bother memorizing all these details of your life when in a couple days you're going to take off with your new alien family ...?
what on earth is going on between your legs and why isn't anyone calling 911?
the cliché of looking for your car keys long after the plot has run out of gas ....
maybe there are deeper themes here I am missing .... but one has to admit, the ending was utterly moronic ... I was alone but now I am not ... like that makes any sense?
It would have been better if she had some kind of organic psychotic breakdown brought on by too much happiness, love and sex ... or if somehow they just started creeping each other out, kind of like a dark pscyho version of The Heartbreak Kid .. well scratch that, that would make about as much sense as this movie did and wouldn't play much better ...
