20%?
I saw this has a 20% on RT. Mike Flanagan's other movies have gotten great reviews, but what happened with this one? I'm a big fan of his, so seeing the low rating is discouraging.

shareIt's only got 5 reviews and they're all from one country. Wait until it gets a wider release.
The Titanic sinks, Bruce Willis is a ghost, and Rosebud is a sled
Alright. What's the average? I can't see it because I'm on my phone.
shareIt got 4 bad reviews and one good one. All from like Spain or something.
shareNo, those are reviews from Mexico, the movie was released 3 weeks ago and I saw it. I was very excited, I love Mike Flanagan he's a very talented director, but this one was not a good movie at all. The VFX were terrible and the pacing was too slow. It deserves that 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Don't worry about RT! It's a great movie if you want to watch it.
There's something wrong with Esther.
It's got a 6.7 here on IMDB with almost 1,000 votes in... that's probably more accurate than the Rotten Tomatoes, which is only a few reviews from Spain...
shareIf you seriously trust IMDb's ratings I got a bridge to sell ya, mate. The amount of people on this site who vote movies as a 10 or a 1 without even seeing them is astounding.

I don't trust the ratings at all. I've seen some really good movies that imdb has with a rating below 5.
shareFlanagan is very overrated IMHO
Oculus is pure crap and Hush is only pretty watchable.

Nah.
shareVery weak film. I expected better.
shareMostly just a PG Fantasy, if this is what counts as a horror movie then the future is bleak.
shareJust watched it and came on here to see if my friend of color had posted yet. And here you are dissing a film I dug?! Take it back, damn you! It was a mild horror. The ending was a bit cliche. A solid 7/10 my non-White brutha.

I still gave it a 6/10 immediately after so I didn't not like it, it was very well acted and the story was entertaining enough to not be boring at any time and now that I look at the title page it clearly says Drama, Fantasy, Horror, and PG-13 so it did do very well inside of that frame.
The only thing that I was slightly off put by was how happy the ending was, the way she walked out of the orphanage with the boy and that lady that was being a total b!tch to her earlier was like"hey"and lady said "I'm taking him home" and she's like "k" so she takes him home and it's all happy butterfly land(too cute, I get enough cute with my dogs) Also I would have liked to have some clue as to where the heck the people that "the canker man ate" went to.
I don't remember specifically a horror flick using that plot before in such a way, I've since slept on it, maybe I'll give it a 7/10 just to make your old pasty white ass happy. For the record dude I'm a full blooded Cockasian, mostly cock and sometimes a little asian when I need a massage, so get your records straight Casper.
Btw speaking of looks, Thomas Jane's face is looking like he's been loading up on the botox, I just don't get that stuff. Maybe just maybe I can see a little, just a little to use on problem areas, but man they bombard themselves with it these days(#1 ex. John Travolta) I know Jane has pretty much the same kind of receding hairline as me and he's been using the old grow out the middle to cover up the lost acreage below(I've been doing something similar so I notice sh!t that like), not sure what he was wearing here cause in The Expanse he has it shaved nearly to the skin along the entire one side of his head. Not like you've got to worry about that though my man, you gots the most badass mofo set of dreads I've even seen on a Glascow Scot, just use that Gorilla Glue mon` and they won't be sliding off a dat pasty dome of yoursī”ī”ī”7/10 esse, cool?
ī¦ "you gots the most badass mofo set of dreads I've even seen on a Glascow Scot"
I got that tartan dreadlock thing goin' on, mon...I and I, etc...
Jane so doesn't suit long hair, but if, as you say, he's doing a cover job then I can see why. Didn't know Travolta was filling his ass with botox. He's in all the scandal rags right now because of his questionable sexuality. I like him. Who cares what side of the bed he gets out of.

I found Oculus to be excellent, but agree with you word-for-word on Hush. That's what is so great about film though, particularly the horror genre; so many differing perspectives, experiences, and opinions spanning the entire spectrum. So much so, that two horror affeciandos such as ourselves can look at one film and have completely opposite opinions (Oculus), but then have the exact same opinion on a completely different film by the same director. :)
Sorry, my horror-geek is showing >.<
