Orignal story. Cliched storytelling/directing.

Pretty fun film.
But the scares were pretty standard.
Like most modern horror films, I could see where all the jump scares were coming.
When the kid was looking under his bed and the monster jumped out when he came back up......So cliche!
We saw that a long time ago in Poltergeist and we've seen it a million times since then.

Not a bad film. But it felt like a missed opportunity to be a really original horror film.
Cool and interesting premises. Poor execution.
6/10

I make a game out of the predictable jump scares, I literally say aloud "jump scare in 3,2,1" and snap my fingers on que with the jump scare, I average about 9/10. It's like the industry has completely given up at attempting to scare the audience at random and without using a massive blast of audio to go with it.

Haha me too, I do the exact same thing.
I did it a lot with this film. Why do directors continue to use the exact same scare tactics? It's very cheap.
Loud noises are not scary.

I did, I may have practically watched them back to back, but definitely the same day so I was in fully warmed up for jump scare mode.

Worst of all is the really cheaper budget films that don't even use visual flashes, just loud noises out of nowhere that are around as scary as a lightning storm 10 miles away.

Sometimes when I see a bright lightning flash I count the seconds to see how close it is. Like for every five seconds after the flash before the thunder it's equal to about 1 mile, so if it takes 20 seconds after the lightning to hear the thunder then the storm is around 4 miles from you, one of the rarer bits of info learned in high school that I actually use in real life 20 years later.

Mostly do it to keep a handle on my Shih-Tzu's nerves he shakes like hell during storms so when I see a close flash I know to keep him near to console his scaredy ass behind.

4.0? Are you sure? lol

Best part was when Mark smacked Cody trying to wake him lol

That's probably why the boogie man ate him.

I actually laughed at that too.
