From Oculus to this cliched PG-13 "Mama" crap?

I was surprised by how much I liked Oculus. This on the other hand looks like another generic PG-13 supernatural horror film with all the cliches (looking under the bed, predictable jump scares, creepy children, children being unable to drawn properly, butterflies straight out of Mama, etc).

I was also surprised that the guy behind Oculus would be responsible for this. The trailer was mind numbingly awful.

Touch darkness and darkness touches you back.

The film is much better. Trust me. I cried when the credits rolled. It's a good story and unlike most generic supernatural flicks.

You've seen it? When did you see it? I have only read the script, and I think I will cry too when I see it.
How was Kate's performance? Did other people enjoy it as well?
Sorry if I ask too many questions. Thanks!

reply

I saw it last summer for a test screening, so effects weren't fully done (but pretty much done). Kate was good, but her performance may be the weakest out of the cast. Still, she's not bad. People seemed to enjoy it, but others were lukewarm about it, especially my friends. Some people especially complained about how expository the ending was, when the mystery was revealed. A lot of comments about being "spoonfed," but I have a defense for that.

Thanks for the answers!
I'm glad Kate was still at least good. 😊
For the ending, I think it's acceptable since she's explaining it to a kid. But I love the reason why the kid has his nightmare. So sad and beautiful at the same time.

reply

I feel the same way about the ending. It makes sense because she's explaining it to a kid. Yeah, I cried when his past was revealed. Very sad.

reply

Can you tell me why the child's dreams manifest as real please, and the resolution?

reply

Oculus sucked. This one was a big step up.

You're as obvious as Quentin Tarantino's foot fetish.
