If you must steal a movie, go with the bigger budget ones.

First of all, yes, I got the memo in regards to illegal downloading and no I am not advocating it. It is a waste of time to tell people not to download a movie, so that’s not what I am going to do. What is my point? It is to ask you simply: why pick the low to mid-range budgeted movies? Hollywood cares only for remakes, reboots, superhero movies and tentpoles. If people continue to download the low to mid-range movies rather than paying for them in the theatre, they will become extinct like the dinosaur. As a diehard movie fan you should be pissed off about that.

How many more Jurassic World sequels do you want? A reboot of the reboot? Seriously, we get it, Peter Parker was bit by a radioactive spider and boo hoo Uncle Ben got murdered. And?

I’m not trying to download shame some of you out there but downloading these small movies is not cool. If you want to see it, take your azz to the theatre and see it like, oh I don’t know, we are supposed to do. Look at the movie, “Hell or High Water” that looks like an amazing movie. If we choose to stay home and download the movie, then what incentive does Hollywood have to produce more of these type of movies???

N-o-n-e.

If ten years from now we are stuck with either Suicide Squad: Joker’s Revenge or Spiderman: Uncle Ben’s Ghost, you only have yourself to blame.

Depends on what country you are from.

Where I come from horror films get a very limited release, if they are released at all on the theatrical run. There just isn't the market for them here. So, if I want to see it when the inter webs are talking about it, I have no choice but finding a copy on the inter webs.

Good films I buy the Blu Ray anyway - but yea, though I get what you are saying, and agree, it doesn't work for everyone. Cinemas near me only play the big budget crap - there have been plenty of films I wanted to support at the cinema but just couldn't.

I understand. If you live in the U.S., then you deserve the shade.

I agree with this.

I too buy any movie I see that intrigues me, let alone any related merchandise, etc.

Also, it can be said, just like the music industry, that the quality of movies is a deciding factor as well. If there weren't so many horribly executed movies out there, people would most likely have more confidence to purchase a $15 movie ticket.

At the same token, you can usually get the DVD for less than the price of a movie ticket.

Most of the films I enjoy are independent or foreign releases that are hard to come by.

And when it comes to buying digital copies, I just don't like it. There is a monopoly to keep and use relevant software to the download, etc. (itunes, amazon, etc.) I prefer physical hard copies.

I've downloaded movies from the net, but that was only to have a digital copy not attached to mainstream software and ten to one I already had a physical copy.

I do my part as well to market movies I feel are good through my movie review youTube page. So those movies are getting thousands of views of free advertising which ultimately results in more sales for their products.

Piracy is a touchy subject no doubt, but it won't have an impact on the quality of movies. The industry will find a way to make up the difference like they always do. The music industry is a perfect example. Give the music away for free, jack up the concert tickets and merchandising to ridiculous prices and fill the void.

Do you have libraries? Or are they limited also? One of the libraries in the surrounding area gets everything. And if they don't you can have it sent over from another library.

Edit: Where I live that is.

So my timing was off...still right though. Lmao. People need to stop with the I download cause of....excuses cause they are equivalent to the dog ate my homework ones. The point remains that if people do not go see small- mid budget movies at the theater then hollywood will stop making them. It's economics 101.

I usually wait for the DVD and take it out of the Library. I also have Amazon prime and Netflix. So many movies are just bad. I can't justify paying $13 plus to see something that is awful. And I LOVE going to the movies.

who wants to gamble 15 bucks for a movie they don't know much about? If it was 3-5 bucks I'd be more willing to gamble and a lot less picky.

The problem is the whole system is broken...if these movies were available online or if it wasn't so expensive to go to a theater - they'd be better off.

I thought most places only sold tickets for say $8 to $10 , I'm guessing if you go to a place like AMC then of course it's going to be more expensive. Also if you go to a film in IMAX, or 3D it's going a higher price.
Haven't gone to see a film on IMAX before, but if I just think it's easier to go with the normal showing so you don't have to spend a lot.
But then again it does depend on if your paying for a group or family.
