They actually make a lot of movies like this in Europe. "Fish Tank" is British, but movies like this are actually quite common in France and Germany. "Puppy Love" is interesting too.

It's kind of funny, since I was a teenager America seems to have adopted this attitude that teenagers will somehow stop experimenting with sex and drugs if "left-wing" indie filmmakers quit making films about it. And men will quit molesting children if 20-year-old actresses stop playing teenage girls in sexually explicit movies. It seems to be working great too. The teen pregnancy rate in America is significantly higher than France, and looking at a map of my neighborhood in American, I'm proud to be one the few males there who is currently NOT a registered sex offender.
