This is simply NOT a "teenage" movie. It's a movie for adults who are actually capable of looking at their teenage years with any honesty and perspective. Obviously, it didn't do well at the American box office. . .

Also, it's interesting how people attack this movie for "promoting" teenage sex, but then turn around and complain about the unattractive actress. Yes, I'm sure the ridiculously "hot" actresses that usually play "teens" in movies that American teenagers actually WATCH don't encourage anyone to want to have sex.

very much agree. We don't need a movie to educate teenage girls this way. It will cause them to have loads of unwanted sex.

If it was about a 15 year old BOY, it would be seem by most as "inspirational". This exposes the utter hypocrisy of our culture today, not much different than in past generations.

Because they should have an actual teen girl playing this roll half naked? Beauty is an opinion so it was pointless to say she's 'unattractive.'
Most importantly she's not a slut. She is a teenage girl exploring her sexuality. Boys can do it and be praised but god forbid a girl has sex with anyone. Not to mention this takes place in the 70s, a time when all that prudeness was thrown to the wind.
