Say what you want about Leo in The Revenant, Jacob was the best actor.

He gave, in my opinion, bar none, the very best performance of 2015. Period.

The fact that he was not even nominated is a bit disturbing to me and completely discredits the Academy.

I get you.
Fantastic young actor. I sincerely hope he keeps challenging himself with roles like this.

The Oscars only like to reward actors with familiar, respected names. They just weren't ready to award it to a 10 year old kid who had been in nothing but Smurfs 2 before this.

And that's ridiculous and sad and shows how politics-based it is.

Awards are political. Sadly that's just a fact.

I agree, he did an excellent job. He was nominated and won several awards, in the US and Canada. I don't think it is a big deal that he wasn't nominated here for best actor.

The Academy is a self-congratulatory circle-jerk for the film industry elite. It has nothing to do with actual talent or an honest critique of the artistic process. As long as you keep that in mind, each year's "winners" make a lot more sense.

I completely agree. I've seen both movies several times and while Leo is always good, Jacob's was one of the best performances I think I've ever seen in any movie.

reply

Jacob stole every scene he was in. Beautiful boy and wonderful actor.. I did love this movie, and did want to see Ole Nick fry for what he did, but I do understand keeping his role understated for the sake of the film.
