Great portrait of a gambling addict.

We need more comedies like this: Tackling the subject of addiction with honesty and humor. Great performance by Jake Johnson. My favorite scene was the one where Eddie's friends try to help him come up with moneymaking ideas.

My one criticism was that the film ended a little abruptly. Also, I was expecting a twist to explain why the convict trusted him with the bag in the first place (like maybe he knew Eddie was a gambling addict and expected him to launder the money).

I agree with your critiques. The ending fell a bit flat and it does really stretch plausibility that this gangster would trust him of all people with the money. So it’s a 6/10, not a bad movie at all but certainly not one of Swanberg‘s best.
