This show sounds exactly like nother series, called "Dead Last", also starring Tyler Labine, about a struggling rock band that finds a magic amulet that allows them to see ghosts and...wait for it...help them to the next realm.
I mean, really? It's the same plot, even starring the same actor. I'm sure Tyler read the script and asked, 'Didn't I do this series already?"

shareDead last was awesome!! Wish that show would have had multiple seasons, but oh well. Yes, both shows are about main character(s) seeing dead people and helping them resolve their unfinished business so they can move on. Although in Deadbeat Tyler Labine's character on the show is a Slacker Medium born with natural abilities to see ghost and most of the time "willingly" helps the dead resolve their unfinished business in hopes of getting paid. While in Dead Last, Labine's character find the amulet of Soren after falling through the floor of an old building and afterwards the entire trio (band) gains the ability when one of the the band members reads the Latin inscription on the amulet out loud while they're driving in their van to a gig in Boston, resulting in them being able to see dead people and unwillingly having to help them move on to the after life even though it's a huge inconvenience for them and they get mostly nothing out of it.
On season two of Deadbeat, Kett Turton who played one of the main characters on Dead Last came on the show and had a small part on one episode. I hope on Season 3, Sarah Downing also makes an appearance or possibly becomes the new love interest who also sees dead people or something other..... It be cool if she became a regular on the show nonetheless.
It's no Dead Last but I'm definitely enjoying Deadbeat!! Can't wait for season 3!!!
