This can't be just about what's implied in the trailer, can it?

Is it really a straight up mad American killer picking off Mexicans who are illegally crossing the border into the US? If so, it's done for the sheer ridiculous, racist horror of a made up story feeding off liberal Americans who think this is what's going on, and for poor Mexicans who are killed while crossing illegally, but almost never by crazy killer Americans.

Has there even been one case of an American shooting multiple Mexicans crossing the border? Sure, a Mexican stalking through some ranch at night has been shot as a trespasser but it's very rare, maybe once or twice that I have heard of. But a guy like the one in the trailer, that's a made up fantasy that's never happened.

So what are the Mexican film makers trying to say here, that it's dangerous crossing the border? Sure it is, but why not show all the criminal Mexicans who exploit and rob and murder the ones who pay them to help cross. Most, if not all, the murders are Mexican on Mexican.

So this film can't be what's shown in the trailer, unless of course this is a serial killer slasher film that just happens to be about illegal immigrants, right?
