It seems like the main characters are illegally trying to cross the border. Is the premise of the movie that these criminals are the good guys, and the Americans trying to stop the criminals is the bad guy?
While the main characters are crossing the border illegally, they are not criminals to the point where violence is needed. They're breaking the law, but they are not hurting anyone.
Meanwhile the Wannabe Cowboy is murdering said nonviolent offendors unprovoked and and for sport.
Mexican Character's crimes: Crossing a border illegally.
Wannabe Cowboy's Crimes: Murder, Assault, and Hate Crime.
No matter how you feel about the debate, the guy with the gun is the villain here.
It's pretty simple but let me splain it to ya. Ya can't just go murdering people cuz they broke a law. Especially whilst breaking it harms no one. A speeder, drunk driver, or an erratic driver is more of a threat than some people looking for work. The antagonist is a psychopath, who doesn't represent America in general.
Okay got it. So all the characters are criminals, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan is like the sociopathic killer. Should be cool. I think he would play a bad guy really well and look forward to seeing this. I thought it was more a political movie, so glad it's a thriller!
