Every morning, my 3 year old son wakes up and asks to watch PAW Patrol! He'll get upset if it isn't on yet...he's addicted! It's a pretty decent show, a lot better than annoying shows Spongebob, Barney or Yo Gabba Gabba. It's watchable for parents and adults too. Good messages about helping people and teamwork. Hope it sticks around for awhile!
Well, I adore Spongebob, Yo Gabba Gabba is one of those guilty pleasures I watch for the laughter and "WTF" surreal experiences it provides...and Barney, well, I always made fun of him, but I must admit I loved it. The songs and dances with the Backyard Gang were too much fun. All the same, Paw Patrol does seem a more tolerable, parent-friendly preschool series! You certainly don't have to "suffer through" or "endure" it like SOME preschool shows. (*cough Dora cough*) xD
If I had any issues with it, the main one would be that only one of the seven main characters is female--which happens frequently. I guess the show is geared a bit more toward boys, although girls can certainly enjoy it too. But there's so often the "group of guys with one, or maybe two, girls tossed in," so that a single character basically has to represent all of "girldom" within the show. I like it when they achieve a little more balance, but that factor doesn't make this series bad by any means. As a female myself, I have no problem identifying with and enjoying male characters.
"If you don't have anything nice to say...come sit by me!"
Indeed. I know this kind of thing is being discussed everywhere now, so it's getting better (I think My Little Pony is a perfect response to it), but entertainment still seems to be male-dominated because of that ridiculous notion that although girls enjoy watching both, boys are only interested in boy characters. Nonetheless, this is a cute cartoon for kids, and I'm not overly critical of it following the traditional one-girl-in-the-gang formula because at least it's good for the children...and not a boring or hair-yanking painful experience for parents to listen in on!
"My Little Throny! I used to wonder what bloodshed could be..."
Edit: Omg. While shopping the toy department of Target the other night, a little girl walked by the Paw Patrol section and started singing the theme song. I had to smile; it was the cutest thing. x-)

Well, there's still Mayor Goodway, Farmer Yumi, Ace Sorensen, and of course Everest.
