This movie is basically one of those party/drama club games

like the Werewolf or Assassin game, where people get roles and try to suss stuff out from each other and decide who is keeping secrets and who dies etc.

But they made it into a movie and tacked on an alien ending.

What a lovely way to burn...

Yes and no. If you want the werewolf game, you should watch "The Hole" it literally talks about that game.

The werewolf game is also about finding out the actual culprit and get rid of him. Once you kill the wolf, the game is over and the villagers win.

This was a countdown to 0. More like Battle Royal \ Hunger Games sort of thing but with voting instead of physical fighting.

Yeah, we played a lot of Mafia (which I think is like Werewolf only I never played that game) in college. You get the roles of the detective, mafia, townspeople, doctor. The goal is the find the mafia and vote/kill them off. If you do that, everyone else wins. Each round, mafia gets to vote/kill someone off so if they were the only ones left then they win. The detective has the skill to see someone's role, doctor can save someone. There's more townspeople left I loved playing this game. Anyway, I usually never got a special role but I loved trying to figure it out. And talking always got me targeted because it looked like I was covering up. My roommate was quiet as hell, and she never got targeted. But I thought...why? I liked to get people out who weren't contributing to the game, etc, because people talking and strategizing were more fun. LOL. But the people in this film who were the loudmouth were very annoying, I would have targeted the banker right away. I would have saved the kid, and yes, sacrificed myself to save a kid.

I would have targeted the banker right away.

At least some of the characters, one in particular, were probably saving the banker for later.

The hateful ones are easy eliminations, so they might as well be saved for later while the "real competition" gets dealt with
