If you're one of the last persons remaining, and it's you and a child/pregnant lady, would you sacrifice yourself?
I have a daughter, she's 4 month old, and I would do everything in my power too let her live, always. But do everyone think the same?
I am solidly into middle age. I've had my youthful fun. If placed into that situation I would sacrifice myself in the hopes that the young girl would live.
I would choose her over the pregnant lady because the baby is not born yet and there is no guarantee that there wouldn't be complications in childbirth or birth defects, etc.
The young girl is already healthy and on her way to adulthood. She could have many years ahead of her in whatever the post alien invasion world turned out to be.
If I could do it, I would vote against the pregnant lady until it was just myself and the young girl remaining and then I would wish her well and step off of my spot on the floor.
I don't know. I'd like to think I'd sacrifice myself for both of them. I'd like to think I'd be like that one guy who never killed anyone. But I have no idea how I'd react in such an extreme situation.

Honestly, while the ethical discussion could be nice, I personally think it's complete and utter nonsense. Everyone can say whatever they want, but it doesn't mean they'll actually act that way when the time comes.
I would have just stepped off due to the entire sick absurd experience, and knowing it was not a world I wanted to live in anyway, and hope it was all a bad dream!
shareI was kind of hoping that at the very end of it all it would be that these people had all been temporarily paralyzed and would "come back to life". Now THAT would have been a sight to see!
Then the aliens just peace out and leave everyone to face themselves and their true natures. Maybe permanently abduct any morally upright people and take them to their planet and away from the cesspool of Earth.
I would have liked this ending better! I actually thought maybe they were just being tased and taken to a different room to recover.
shareThat's what my friend and I thought when watching too, that they'd bring the lights up at the end and show everyone had just been shocked but not killed and was watching the rest of the voting and everything happen from a sound proof area just outside the circle room or whatever. We thought that'd be a hilarious way to end it and some fun justice for Eric.
That ending could also give them a chance to make things better or make changed in their lives... Maybe those two who may have been having an affair could have a chance at a more proper relationship or something, etc.
