Best scene (SPOILERS)

The scene where the horsemen steal the chip within the card was the best scene in the film in my opinion. It was mind blowing and insane!!! What do you guys think?

reply

Not sure I'd describe CGI tossing a card from one person to another for something like five minutes for no real reason either mind blowing nor insane. Boring and inane would be more appropriate. Seriously these "magicians" are supposed to be some of the brightest minds around and that was the best they could come up with? Why not just have one of them eat it and be done with it or why not have one of those idiots with "hypnosis" skills just hypnotize everyone in the room since it was so easy you could teach a total beginner to hypnotize even a seasoned "hypnotist" in what I can only assume is a short period of time.

reply

Because you cannot chew a microchip that's metal. In front of security guards with guns. Also, the 'stupid hypnosis guy' cannot hypnotize 7 people in the room, with 6 of them carrying guns. Like they say, it's about the surprise factor. And also, are you so stupid to think that even if you can chew the chip, not to mention it would render it useless, it would still be caught by the metal detector.

reply

Who said anything about chewing it dummy? Swallowing items and regurgitating them isn't exactly unknown in "magic". Put it in a condom or something and swallow it and be done with it. Zero need to toss the card to anyone else. Besides if swallowing the card sound stupid, I can tell you it is because it is stupid, but not as stupid as tossing the card from one person to another for five minutes. And as for your next inane excuse about the metal detector and the chip, they can just say that they are Korean war veterans and got shot in the war and they never got the bullet out. What are they going to do, cut them open to see whether or not they're telling the truth. And yeah, them fighting in the korean war makes more sense than anything else in the whole film.

Yeah, the stupid hypnosis guy can't hypnotise seven regular joes, but he can teach his friend to hypnotize what I can only assume is the best or second best hypnotist in the world in five minutes. Talk about a stupid movie for stupid people.

I'm sorry....but that was the worst scene IMHO.

Setting aside the insane idea that you can actually control a thrown card like that and the CGI that went into it...

Why did they have to keep throwing it to each other....just as the next person is getting searched??? It seemed that as soon as one person was done being searched, they'd "throw" it to the next person who hadn't been searched yet?

...and what with all the RE-searching. I know they had to re-search the one that actually took it because he was acting henky....but it seemed like each person got searched over and over and over again.

Yes the CGI was terrible, but the tossing was necessary, the scene was just poorly thought ou. The thing is that for a trick like this your audience (the guards) must be in a specific position, they were all being searched at the same time (and researched multiple times), so they had to toss the card to the best located magician, so that someone else wouldn't see the card. Well that's the logical explanation (which for this movie was too much to follow)

reply

yeah but it was CGI and proably couldnt be done in real life

Sucks huh

but I dont understand all the hate since the ending was perfect too

Look like Tarzan talk like Jane! HAHA

Dave Franco actually learned to throw cards, for the first movie. It is possible to do the trick, just not with the chip attached.

And he wasn't the only one throwing the card -- they all were. The other members of the team were literally learning the trick the day before, something that in reality would take a good thrower years to get down.

I think they tried to cover that by having a few tosses be not perfect (Merritt's hat catch, fer'instance), but still.

As mentioned in another thread, it was an awfully long scene.

When I was watching it, I kept thinking "why do they keep tossing it to a team member that is about to be searched rather than one that just got searched".

Be sure to proof your posts to see if you any words out

I agree with ivankyanzze. It was my favorite scene ...and I enjoyed the movie just as much as the first one.
