That scene made no sense to me.
Why pass it?
They were passing it around for no apparent reason.
Anyone could have just simply keep it with him after the guard finished searching his body. Instead, they kept passing it to each other for no apparent reason at all.
That scene was put in there to please audiences.
I get it.
But still. It was stupid
I agree, I thought the same thing, if you're so gifted to play tricks hiding it, why risking throwing it across the room where it would be visible.
It's not like they were getting undressed
The bigger challenge was going through the detector
Especially because they'd throw it to someone who was just about to be searched?! Why not throw to someone who'd just been searched,right before YOU get searched...

I didn't even think the effects were awesome. Actually they were rather tiresome.

It made no sense that scene apart from all that card throwing was cool.

shareAgreed. When we followed the card falling through one of their jackets, it was ahead of the guard padding him down (up and down, not only gravity direction) - one skilled move in the opposite direction and he could have just kept it there somewhere in his jacket.
When they palmed the card etc to fool the guards, slide of hand style (no CGI). This had been enough and really the coolest part of that scene anyway.
