So what did you all think they saw at the bottom of the staircase?

I'm drawing blanks.

For me (not the biggest on finding 'hidden hints in movies'), it was a massive cliffhanger. The staircase 'formed an eye' due to 'camera trickery', but that's all I got from it..

I have absolutely no idea what could be at the bottom. For all I know; it could be the Queen of England.

...but I'd love to know!

It could be anything, really. The filmmakers just ended it on an open note so that it would keep the viewers hanging on something. There was no hint as to what it could be.

That very same shot opened the film. Perhaps the Eye has another mission for them? Maybe it was just about the symbolism.
