I've just finished this and thought it was o.k. i suppose (i gave it a 6/10). I had seen the first one (obviously) so pretty much knew what to expect.
I must say though that i was pleasantly surprised at the lead female not being killed off last. It was a bit of a change of course for usual horrors and i honestly didn't see it coming.

Meh, that was basically the one point where it departed from slavish adherence to slasher formula, but Seth was essentially a final girl with his sex swapped. It's not original either: "The Burning" and "Evil Dead" both had final boys instead of girls and they were 30 years ago.

Classic example of a remake making a story less interesting, though to be fair, the Evil Dead remake was passable and did have some interesting ideas of its own.
I just wish that screenwriters would put some thought and originality into their scripts.
