Being Burned Alive (Spoilers)

I was surprised by how they "dispatched" of Jacob. Early in the movie, they receive a burn victim and Seth comments on how being burned alive must be the worst way to go. Later on, Amy cauterizes his wound. Then, Jacob an Seth end up in the same room where the cauterization happened. Jacob tosses Seth into a shelf full of jars that I would assume are full of formaldehyde which is highly flammable. I thought Seth was going to light the room and Jacob up. Guess I was wrong.

That line seemed so much like clumsy foreshadowing that I suspect that was the way the script originally ended, and it got changed to be a slightly more interesting embalming death. Meh, it's not even as original as the directors seem to think because Dr Phibes embalmed himself at the end of his first film.

They stole the whole embalming death idea from Phantasm 2.
The only difference is that it was sulfuric acid that was being embalmed into The Tall Man.
